#2 LSU Survives on the Road at Auburn 12-10
The LSU defense saved the day as the tiger offense struggled. Auburn gave the visiting tigers an inspired effort but the bengals from Baton Rouge had just enough to leave Jordan-Hare with a 12-10 victory. The road in the SEC is a tough one. For all those who are upset that LSU clearly did not show a dominant performance last night the important thing is that they survived against a bitter rival and a venue which has not been friendly to the LSU tigers.
Undermanned Auburn gave the LSU offense fits all night. With the help of Zach Mettenberger’s 2 fumbles, 9 penalties for 80 yards, wild passes, drops, and countless missed scoring opportunities the LSU offense was abysmal especially in the second half. Odell Beckham Jr. who has to step up as LSU’s leader in the wide receiver department for the tigers to have success, had multiple drops. The LSU offensive line was less than impressive against the Auburn tigers mostly in pass blocking. Zach Mettenberger was hurried continuosly and actually did a good job to finish with 169 yards passing for the game.
Miscues helped a struggling team feel like it could upset highly ranked LSU. The tigers must work hard to correct the mistakes before they travel to face the Florida gators in two weeks where they will experience another hostile environment.
Spencer Ware led LSU with 16 carries for 90 yards and Kadron Boone led the receivers with 3 catches for 49 yards. Michael Ford had the only touchdown for the tigers.
