#7 LSU vs Ole Miss Saturday 2:30 CBS
The 2012 Tiger football team is 8-2 with 2 weeks remaining in the regular season. To win their final two games both in which they will be heavily favored, would do a great deal to enhance the quality of the tiger’s bowl chances. The final home game of the season will be against the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ole Miss is currently ranked fifth in the SEC west standings and have a record of 5-5. Sophomore quarterback Bo Wallace has thrown for 2,239 yards, 12 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Junior running back Jeff Scott leads the rebel running game with 150 attempts for 680 yards, and 6 touchdowns while Bo Wallace, Randall Mackey, Barry Brunetti, and I’tavius Mathers have significant rushing yards as well. Sophomore wide receiver Donte Moncrief may be the most dangerous weapon the LSU secondary has to defend this week and has 47 receptions for 614 yards, and 5 touchdowns.
An LSU win this weekend and next weekend at Arkansas could propel the tigers in the direction of a possible BCS bowl appearance to where a loss would send them in the direction of a lower tier bowl.
The LSU offense including Zach Mettenberger have been red hot the last two weeks. The tigers will be favored although the history of LSU vs Ole Miss suggests that this game may be a tougher contest than it looks on paper. LSU won last year by the score of 52-3 in Oxford, MS.
