Daily newspaper for Tiger fans

Vol. MMXII

LSU beats Mississippi State 29-7

One word: Defense.

Okay, more words: Our defense is back, baby!

That’s what LSU fans are screaming this Monday morning. As if it weren’t enough that stud cornerback Patrick Peterson and young sensation Morris Claiborne each snagged two interceptions, Tiger fans even got to see the big man, Drake Nevis, haul in a pic too. Nevis’s interception came as a result of an outstanding play by freshman Tyrann Mathieu, who rushed in untouched to force the fumble out of the Bulldog quarterback’s hands.

LSU continued to perform well on special teams. Josh Jasper, a Senior from Memphis, Tennessee, nailed kicks from 32, 52, 18, 37, and 21 yards, setting a school record for most field goals made in a game. Jasper earned his scholarship Saturday night! The Tigers looked good in the return game as well, as Peterson continues to shine whenever teams are willing to kick to him (or throw near him, for that matter!)

LSU Quarteback Jordan Jefferson went 10 of 16, with just under 100 yards passing. Running back Stevan Ridley gained 82 yards on 19 carries, showing continued improvement running the ball with purpose.

This week the Tigers welcome West Virginia (3-0) to Baton Rouge.
