Tiger Basketball Gets Back on Track with the season’s first Road Victory over UC Irvine 66-60

Andre Stringer had 19 points as the tigers claimed their first road victory of the season in Irvine, California Tuesday night.  The tigers moved to 7-1 and gained some confidence heading into another tough road game Saturday at Marquette.  The tigers were coming off their first loss of the season Friday night at Boise State.

Shavon Coleman helped lead the team with 13 points,  11 rebounds, and 2 assists.  Anthony Hickey finished with 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Anteater center Adam Fowler was the only player for Irvine to achieve double figures as he score13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.

The LSU Basketball team must learn from this victory and turn their sites to Saturday when they face Marquette at 2:00.

 

The LSU Tigers Basketball Team Will Try to Move on When they Travel to UC Irvine Tuesday 9:00

The 6-1 LSU basketball team aims to overcome the recent loss at Boise State.  The tigers again travel out west looking for their first road victory of the young season.  The UC Irvine anteaters may have a 5-6 record but a road game to California will prove to be another tough test for the tigers.

Irvine is fresh off a win on the road at Fresno State 58-51 in which junior guard Chris McNealy finished with 13 points.  McNealy averages 9.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.  6’9 senior center Adam Folker and 6’8 sophomore Will Davis II both average almost 6.5 rebounds a game.  The assist leader on the Irvine team is freshman guard Alex Young.

LSU Basketball Faces its First Road Test Against a Fierce Boise State Team on Friday 8:00

Johnny Jones 6-0 tigers will take to the road to face a very challenging opponent in the Boise State Broncos.  Even more challenging is that they will be on the road for the first time this season when they visit the broncos (6-2) in Boise, Idaho at their home court in the Taco Bell Arena.

Junior forward Shavon Coleman leads LSU in scoring with 15.8 points a game, sophomore forward Johnny O’Bryant III leads the team in rebounding with 9 rebounds a game, and sophomore guard Anthony Hickey is the assist leader in averaging 5.2 assists a game although he is suspended indefinitely and hopes center around junior Andre Stringer being his replacement again at the point guard position.  Stringer was successful as a replacement for Hickey in scoring 18 points including 4 three pointers and 4 assists.

LSU Tigers Finally Take Control Late over the Chattanooga Mocs 80-67

The tigers fought hard to put away the pesky Mocs who kept the game within reach.  Andre Stringer stepped in as the primary replacement for the suspended sophomore guard Anthony Hickey.  Stringer a junior guard did a fine job scoring 18 points, 4 assists,and 3 steals.

Sophomore Johnny O’Bryant III scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds, 1 steal, and 3 blocked shots.  O’Bryant is becoming a serious threat to opposing offenses and defenses.  Corban Collins scored a career best 11 points and 3 assists.  Freshman guard Malik Morgan and freshman forward Shane Hamminck scored 4 points each.

LSU Basketball Hosts Chattanooga Tuesday Night at 7:00 on CST

The men’s basketball team will be without Anthony Hickey who was suspended indefinitely.  The 5-0 tigers will host the 2-6 Mocs out of the Southern Conference.  Chattanooga is coming off a loss to Eastern Kentucky 63-52 in which senior forward Drazen Zlovaric led the team with 12 points.  Zlovaric averages 9.9 points a game with a 6.6 rebounding per game average.  Junior forward Z. Mason scores 11 points per game with a 7.1 rebound per game average.  Sophomore guard Ronrico White has 8.5 points per game with 3.5 rebounds per game.
