#2 LSU Takes Down #14 Ole Miss 7-1 in Game 1; Game 2 7:00 CST
LSU (47-7, 22-6) won the first game of the series Thursday night over Ole Miss (35-19, 14-14) . The tigers tied a school record in most SEC victories in a regular season matching the 1986 and 1997 LSU baseball teams.
Sophomore pitcher Cody Glenn (6-2) again was the Thursday starter. Glenn earned the win allowing one run on 8 hits and striking out 2. Ole Miss right-hander Mike Mayers (4-5) suffered the loss. The tigers finished the game with 10 hits.
Mississippi sophomore right-hander Sam Smith (3-0, 3.15 ERA) is expected to face LSU junior right-hander Kurt McCune (3-1, 3.18 ERA) tonight at 7:00. The game will be televised by Cox Sports Television.
Saturday’s final game of the series is scheduled for a noon start and will be televised by the CBS Sports Network.
