Despite a Remarkable Effort by the LSU Tigers, Marquette Survives 84-80

The tigers were able to make the game in Milwaukee a nailbiter even though the first half looked like the home team would runaway with an easy victory.  In the second half LSU erased the golden eagles lead that was once 21 points.   LSU closed to within 12 points at half but tied the game about 7 minutes into the second half and put a scare into the eagles and the home crowd at the BMO Harris Bradley Center that could not have been imagined early in the contest.

Andre Stringer led the tigers with 20 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.  Charles Carmouche added 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Johnny O’Bryant III had 14 points and 5 rebounds.  Anthony Hickey had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals off the bench.  Shavon Coleman had 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal.

Davante Gardner led the Golden Eagles with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 steals.  Shavon Coleman had 11 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal.

The tigers are back home next Friday when they host Houston Baptist.
