Its Saturday Night in Death Valley! #5 LSU vs #1 Alabama 7:00 CBS

Gameday will get started early on Saturday morning,  the nations top recruits will be on campus, and a rarely available 7:00 CBS time slot are just a few signs of a huge day on the LSU campus.

The tigers under coach Miles tenure have seemed to play up and down to the competition level of their oppenents.  This week its #1 Alabama.  The tigers will be sky high and their is little doubt  that the tigers will bring their A+ game.  Expect a trench war of epic proportions and a game that will be decided in the second half if not late in the 4th quarter.  Add to that the fact that the tide handed the tigers a BCS national championship game defeat on January 9th that could lend itself to a serious revenge factor going into the game.

The emergence of freshman running back Jeremy Hill and a surprising makeshift LSU offensive line should be cause for Alabama concern.  Although if the tigers are going to stay close to the tide Zach Mettenberger may need to have his most explosive game of the season.  The tiger defense has been nasty and will only need the offense to stay on the field at times and not go “3 and out” often.

Alabama has a fierce offensive line but they will be in a head to head battle with LSU’s defensive line.  AJ McCarron has not thrown an interception all year so the defensive backs must keep the tide passing game contained.  Kevin Minter will lead the young linebackers in helping keep tide running backs Eddie Lacy and TJ Yeldon from having big games.

Look for a battle similiar to last year’s game that took place in Tuscaloosa.  Both LSU’s and Alabama’s special teams could play a major factor as well.
