Cardiac Cats! Tigers Win a Nailbiter Over the #23 Mississippi State Bulldogs in OT 69-67
(15-10, 5-6 SEC) (19-7, 6-5 SEC)
Mississippi State waisted no time in making an early run to take a double digit lead over LSU. The tigers hung tough and even though they trailed by double digits much of the first half they were able to cut State’s lead down to only 7 at the break with the score 36-29. The 2nd half was nothing like the first. Down the stretch it was a fierce SEC West battle. Justin Hamilton made 2 critical free throws and took a charge to give LSU the last shot of regulation which turned out unsuccessful and sent the game into overtime. In a series of incredible plays, Anthony Hickey rebounded a free throw that would have given State the lead with only 11 seconds to play and went down the court and scored the winning points on a layup with only 2 seconds left for the victory.
Senior guard Dee Bost led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 3 rebounds. Ralston Turner led the tigers with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
