LSU Basketball Puts the Clamps on Mississippi State 80-68

The tigers begin another win streak and move to .500 in SEC play.  LSU is now 15-8, 6-6 SEC and will move on to face Tennesee Tuesday at Thompson Boling Arena.  The tigers took the lead in the first half and led 41-28 at the break.  They then cruised in the second half to finish off the bulldogs… More to come

LSU Basketball Back Home to Face Mississippi State 4:00 ESPNU

Is this the day the tigers return to .500 in the SEC?  The tigers come in after an exciting 18 point win at South Carolina Thursday night with much to prove.  As it stands now LSU sits at 14-8, 5-6 SEC and have a chance to move to 6-6 if they can defeat a bulldog team that they beat in Starkesville on Feb. 2.  The bulldogs come in at 7-16, 2-9 SEC.

The tigers fed off a career nigt from Johnny O’Bryant Thursday, in which he finished with 30 points and 10 rebounds.  Anthony Hickey comes into the game averaging 11.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.  Shavon Coleman has averaged 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Charles Carmouche has 8.8 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.8 assists.

Freshman guard Fred Thomas has 10.2 points per game and 3.5 rebounds for the bulldogs.  Freshman guard Craig Sword averages 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and nearly 2 assists per game.  Freshman forward Gavin Ware averages 8.9 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.  Junior forward Colin Borchert brings in 7.7 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 1.4 assists.  Sophomore guard Trivante Bloodman scores 6.2 points per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, and nearly 3 assists per game on average.

 

 

Tiger Basketball Cruises Past South Carolina 64-46

The LSU men’s basketball team rarely wins on the road but on Thursday night they did just that.  The tigers led by a single bucket going into the half and it seemed like this was one of those games that may go down to the wire.  LSU stormed out in the second half and took control of the ball game and thats when Johnny O’Bryant III ” Caught fire”.   The sophomore guard scored 30 points, had 10 rebounds, and added 1 block to lead the tigers for a career high night.  The tigers cruised down the stretch and the game was not in doubt.

Andre Stringer had 12 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.  Jalen Courtney came off the bench to score 6 points, and had 1 rebound.  Andrew Del Piero had 6 points as well, with 7 rebounds and 1 block.

LSU Basketball Travels to South Carolina for an Important Road Trip Thursday 6:00 ESPN2

The tiger basketball team will take on the gamecocks Thursday night at Columbia Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.  The tigers are coming of a 60-57 loss on the road at Alabama and now site at 13-8. 4-6 SEC.  The South Carolina gamecocks fell Sunday 61-55 to Tennesee and are now 12-11, 2-8 SEC.

Sophomore forward Johnny O’Bryant III leads the tigers with 12.3 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game.  Sophomore guard Anthony Hickey has 12.3 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 3.7 assists per game.  Junior forward Shavon Coleman averages 11.4 points per game and 7 rebounds.  Senior guard Charles Carmouche has 9 points per game, 3.7 rebounds per game, and 3.6 assists.

LSU Basketball Looks to Keep Their Streak Alive Saturday at Alabama ESPN2

The tigers will look to add to their winning streak Saturday.  The streak will go to 4 if they can beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa but the tide’s 6-3 league record says a great deal about the tigers chances of pulling an upset at Coleman Coliseum Saturday.

The LSU tigers have been red hot in their 3 game stretch led by Anthony Hickey who leads the team with 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.   Johnny O’Bryant III is next in scoring averaging 11.8 per game, 8.3 rebounds per game.  Shavon Ccoleman has 11.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game.

The Crimson Tide is led by Junior guard Trevor Releford who scores 15.1 points per game, has2.2 rebounds  per game, and 2.5 assists per game.  Sophomore guard Trevot Lacey has 12.1 points per game, 3.9 rebounds per game, and 3.4 assists per game.  Junior center Moussa Gueye averages 4.4 rebounds per game and 1.5 points per game.  Sophomore guard Rodney Cooper scores 10.7 points per game, has 4.3 rebounds per game, and averages 1.1 assists per game.

The tigers look for a big upset to put themselves back at .500 in the SEC while Alabama looks to move to 7-3 in the SEC.
