#2 Ranked LSU Baseball Wins 11-1 Friday Night over #7 Kentucky; Game 2 6:30 Cox Sports TV

#2 ranked LSU baseball (28-2, 9-1 SEC) combined a hot hitting performance with an impressive performance by tiger pitcher Aaron Nola (5-0) in defeating #7 ranked Kentucky in game 1 Friday night.  Nola completed seven innings giving up only four hits and one earned run.  Kentucky (22-7, 6-4)  was silenced by Nola and failed repeatedly to answer LSU’s onslaught of runs late,

The fifth, six, and seventh innings were huge for the tigers as they added numerous runs in those innings which were unanswered by the wildcats.   Nine of LSU’s runs came with two outs.

With the win, the tigers matched the best start in school history.  Game 2 begins at 6:30 and is again to be televised  by Cox Sports.

 

#2 LSU Baseball back Home Against #7 Kentucky for a 3 Game Series; All 3 Games on Cox Television

The first game of the series between the second-ranked LSU tigers (27-2, 8-1 SEC) and the Kentucky wildcats (22-6, 6-3 SEC) will take place at Alex Box stadium beginning on Friday at 7:00.  Game 2 on Saturday at 6:30 PM and then the final game of the series will be at 12:00 noon on Sunday.  All three games are to be aired on Cox Sports Television.

LSU is tied for the SEC lead and is currently on a nine game winning streak.  The tiger pitching staff is ranked fourth in the league with a team ERA of 2.49.  Aaron Nola is most likely to start the Friday game while Ryan Eades will most likely start Saturday.  LSU leads the SEC in team batting at .308.  The tigers also lead the league in home runs with 27 total.  LSU is the SEC’s top fielding team with an fielding percentage of .981.  Senior first baseman Mason Katz leads the tigers with a .430 batting average.  Katz leads the nation in RBI’s  with 49 and has an SEC leading 13 homers.  Alex Bregman has a team high batting average of .440 with nine doubles, three triples, three homers, 24 RBI’s, 35 runs, and nine solen bases.

#2 Ranked Tigers Take Down Alcorn State 7-3; LSU vs Southern Miss Rained Out

The tigers defeated the Braves with the help of Raph Rhymes who drove in runs in his last 3 at- bats.  Alex Bregman stretched his hitting streak to 17 games.  Freshman left-hander Hunter Devall got his best performance of the season helping the tigers move to 27-2 on the season which is one win short of LSU’s best start ever.

The tigers Wednesday night contest against Southern Mississippi at Zephyr field in Metairie has been postponed.  LSU baseball will face the Southern jaguars at Zephyr field next Tuesday night.

Ryan Eades Leads the LSU Baseball Team to an 8-0 Shutout at Missouri; Game 3 Sunday at 1PM

LSU took the series at Columbia Saturday in a rain delayed Saturday contest 8-0 over the Missouri tigers.  For the second straight week, LSU will play Sunday for a series sweep.  Ryan Eades pitched a career-best eight innings.  He improved to 6-0 and now has an ERA of 1.35 striking out five Missouri batters and walking only three.  Nick Rumbelow closed out Missouri in the ninth.

LSU is now 25-2 overall and 7-1 SEC.  Missouri fell to 9-14,2-6 SEC.

LSU will go for the sweep in game 3 today at 1:00 from Taylor Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.

#2 LSU Baseball Wins Sixth Straight Over Missouri 2-0; Game 2 at 6 PM due to Rain Delay

Aaron Nola pitched 7 and 2/3 innings to propel the LSU tigers to a 2-0 victory Friday night over the Missouri tigers and record LSU’s sixth striaight win.  LSU (24-2, 6-1 SEC) won its first game against Missouri (9-13, 2-5 SEC) since it joined the conference last July.

Nola (4-0) struck out 10 batters and issued no walks until the eight inning.  Chris Cotton was the closer for the tigers as he preserved the win for LSU.
